When compared to 2023, this 2024 is keeping us on our toes less: last year, in fact, rainfall was very scarce and temperatures quite high. Although the thermometer registers on average several degrees higher than in the past, the amount of rain that has fallen these days is allowing plants to develop as best they can and to live with a climate that is not exactly winter-like.
In fact, after a period of great drought, rains have finally arrived, a real panacea for our countryside where pruning and tying operations and the arrangement of plants and their reinforcement continue. The next step, as soon as the rain stops, will be the fertilization of our vineyards.
As for the arable land, we are waiting to start the sowing of cereals, while in the poplar groves we continue with the cutting to be followed by tillage.
Forest cutting, for its part, is work in progress, as scheduled.
Our David, together with his staff, is carefully and meticulously studying the new estates, San Gervasio and Montefoscoli, to see which soils are best suited to accommodate new vineyards.
The truffle farms, although it has not been a very lucky year for them because of the weather, are growing well and giving us great satisfaction.
The wine cellar, where we are now busy with the blending of the 2021 vintage and the decanting of the old vintages, has benefited from some improvements during this period, designed to always have separate batches in fermentation and ageing, a choice that will push us towards ever greater quality.

Perhaps one of the best news we have ever announced! On 15 February, work began on the Borgo di Villa Saletta, which in a few years’ time will become a top-level resort where you can enjoy a unique experience linked to wine and the beauty of our lands. It will certainly not be an easy job, but we will try to do our best, giving our utmost, to bring back to life this marvellous 14th-century hamlet from which our estate takes its name and to which we are closely attached.
