After two very difficult years from a climatic point of view, including rains and exasperating heat, this year we are finally experiencing a wonderful May and June to say the least. It has rained, yes, but not excessively, and the beautiful, never blazing sunshine, which warms our farm during the day, leaves our crops and their soil refreshed in the evening. If the weather continues to be so favorable it could be a great vintage indeed.

In the vineyard we have finished the bud selection that is needed to keep the quality standard high while deep tillage continues.

We are proceeding with trellising and removing the green parts that are not necessary for the growth of the berries.

In our many poplar groves, which are an integral part of the farm, pruning operations continue, while at the olive groves our workers administer the nutrients capable of growing strong, juicy drupes.

In the countryside we have planted the spring and summer sowings, namely sunflower and corn, and the honey crops that bees are so fond of.

In the winery, where we recently finished the blending of the 2021 vintage, we are decanting wine from the barrels.

A few days ago, on the other hand, we bottled the 2022 rosé, which, again this year, we can proudly say, is really good!

Spring has been blooming!

The weather of the past few weeks has certainly not been the easiest, with a partly scorching April also characterized by often substantial rainfall.

At last, however, everything seems to be in place with temperatures in the normal range and a beautiful sun kissing our vineyards.

In the vineyards we are proceeding with tillage and bud selection. We are also doing treatments and weed control and preparing the soils for new plantings in 2025.

With the end of the rains, we are finally preparing the soils for spring and summer planting and poplar pruning.

The first checks in the olive groves have begun: at this time the olive blossoms look very promising and anticipate a harvest that could be among the best ever so far.

The woods are growing lushly and we admire them in all their beauty. They are our green lung, without which our crops could never achieve the same quality they reserve for us every year.

In the winery we are preparing the new bottlings for the 2021 vintage. The work consists of tasting each individual batch, the relevant organoleptic and biochemical analyses, filtration, and the more creative part involving blends.

All work will be completed between June and July with bottling to be followed by a wait of at least two years before

The new wine cellar

The new wine cellar is taking more and more shape. So many ideas and immense the desire to see it finally finished. It will be a functional cellar but also extremely beautiful, able to accommodate all the best technologies and guests who want to taste our labels in a place where time seems to stand still, far from today’s stress and city chaos.

Spring has been blooming!

Spring has been arriving and the rains are finally over.

In the vineyard everything is sprouting and the spectacle we can admire every day is amazing.

Looking forward to an high level quality  vintage!  We are preparing our vineyards for the most important phase of production.

We are working the sub-row.

In the meantime we are fervently awaiting the time when the shoots will be developed enough, so that we can make the selection.

All these operations  will affect qualitatively and quantitatively the production of the year.

About  the olive and poplar groves we are at the end of pruning.

Very nice to see it is  the seedlings:  we are continuing with the spring mellifers cultures.

Forest cutting is done and we are now looking forward to the next “sylvanian” season, a term which indicates the maintenance of the forest area in which the “old” gives space to the “new.”

In the winery it is time of bottling:  Rosato Toscana Igt, a blend of all the red grapes on the estate, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
